  • Tryon, North Carolina: "The friendliest town in the South"

    Alan Peoples, the Mayor of Tryon, told PBS something we could confirm through firsthand accounts, and as second-time tourists to the area.

    "In Tryon, you can do what you want to within reason," Peoples said while sitting inside a multi-colored 1969 VW van. "You can be who you want to. We're the friendliest town in the South."

    Players of all levels flock to our 19-hole Tom Fazio-designed golf course that makes you feel as if you’re playing a private game in your own national park. Tom Fazio himself is also a fan, having stated on a recent visit that he considers Bright’s Creek as one of his best designs in North Carolina. And thanks to the mild climate, our course is open year-round to members and their guests, allowing you to tee off in any season.

  • Derbyshire

    Derbyshire is a gated 260 acres plus community centered around a spring fed, fully stocked 33-acre lake perfect for swimming, fishing or boating. There are also several miles of biking and hiking trails, and our community offers equestrian amenities. There is a community stable available for those who wish to board their horse(s). The community stable also offers two riding arenas to accommodate all disciplines.

    The Derbyshire trail system (four-mile loop around the community) is also part of the Collinsville Equestrian Trail Association (CETA). The CETA Trail system connects to the Foothills Equestrian Trail Association (FETA), which together offer more than 165 miles of horse trails interconnected through the area.
