Waterfalls Around Tryon

As summer temperatures begin to soar, you can escape the heat wave at some of the coolest vacation spots in North Carolina. With mountain breezes, water escapades and more, these local waterfalls can help you beat the heat.

Shunkawauken Falls In Columbus, this 150ft waterfall is best visible in heavy rain conditions. For a unique experience, driving up White Oak Mountain, you can drive right across the falls.

 Pearson Falls Between Tryon and Saluda in a lush cove filled with wildflowers. This 90ftwaterfall cascades over tons of tiny ledges with a couple of free-fall sections along the way. It has one of the most photogenic forms of any falls in the area and is an easy quarter-mile hike from parking

 Little Bradley Falls not far from downtown Saluda is an easy 2 mile hike to a 50ft waterfall. You will find nice dense forest, creeks to cross, wildflowers (depending on the season), and a swimming spot.

 Dupont State Forest is an outdoor lover's dream with many waterfalls and 86 miles of trails on protected 10,000 acres.  Some of the best hidden waterfalls in North Carolina include Soco Falls, Rainbow Falls, Turtleback Falls, and Triple Falls at Dupont State Forest.  Sliding Rock is a 60ft natural water slide that ends in a 8 foot deep pool of water. This is a heavily-used recreation area; come early and try to avoid visiting during the peak hours of noon-4 pm. About an hours drive from Tryon in Brevard, NC.
